Joint Editorial Board Memos on Section 5210 Biochemical Oxygen Demand

August 4, 2015

Over the years, the Standard Methods Joint Editorial Board (JEB) has issued a series of memos regarding Section 5210 Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD). These memos attempted to answer questions that have arisen over the use of BOD to determine nutrient pollution, a response to inquiries about determining acceptance criteria with multiple dilution water blanks for BOD, and a clarification of the language regarding the recommended dilution series.

The most recent memo answers questions regarding dilution preparation procedures using volumetric containers or BOD bottles.
